Hafiz Dhaou & Aïcha M’Barek / Cie. Chatha
Proposed as a modul-dance artist by Maison de la Danse Lyon [France]
Originally kharbga is a very popular ancient game played in North Africa, which apparently seems friendly, but like any game is hiding behind a fierce rivalry. Kharbga is a strategy game that is played at floor, on the land where everyone shines his intelligence, his skill at anticipating, interpreting the other. A face to face, a little war of nerves, soft, odorless, colorless, muted. The competition is launched and the game begins. Play, invent a game, build a part in interaction with his opponent is a top cultural activity level. So this game transposes into a concrete object of value systems. Values that we (re) bind at world.
Today we observe with fascination the new data: competition, rivalry, performance, efficiency and attitude of anticipation, everyone is caught up in the game, is which the better? Who will win? How do we develop strategies referential? Strategies any conscious?
After the choregraphies of group Khaddem Hazem, Vu, Un des Sens, of which already questioned these notions, with our six partners in the game we see this new piece as an implementation of its strategies, capabilities, alliances, challenges to win. With Kharbga, jeux de pouvoir, we will resume our ground dance, as the earth sol, territory, body rival, virtuoso, and characters "strategists".
In 2003, Aïcha M’Barek became teacher in the Regional Conservatory and in 2004, participated for a Master Métiers des Arts et de la Culture at University Lyon2.
Hafiz Dhaou has on his side joined in Montpellier the E.X.E.R.C.E., group directed by Mathilde Monnier at the CCN of Montpellier. He presents there in 2002, Zenzena (“the prison”) a solo which he will play until 2008 and then in 2003, h.m. for six mal dancers and one female. He joined Abou Laagra of whom he became a performing interpreter. Hafiz Dhaou became associated dancer at the CCN of Caen (2005) directed by Hela Fattoumi and Eric Lamoureux.
Hafiz Dhaou and Aïcha M’Barek united their strengths in 2004 for a first duo Khalini Aïch. On the same year they created two others duos for choreographies postcards filmed within the Art de la Rencontre developed by Dominique Hervieu. In 2005, they founded Chatha Company. Since then they invented a common choregraphic language emerging from their dualities. Their plays which they qualify as “dark” are being danced through out the whole world. The quator Kaddem Hazem is created in 2006 at the Biennale of Lyon. Kaddem Hazem is related to the plain day to day worker and the hips as are the dancers. 2008 VU their new creation introduces humor. In 2010 they created Kawa, solo for two, danced by Hafiz Dhaou and in 2011 they created Un des Sens by invitation of CCN-Ballet de Lorraine, Nancy, for 28 dancers.
