CoFestival. Modul-dance festival. Kino Šiška Ljubljana

The first edition of CoFestival was created as an answer to the changing and challenging conditions of production and creation. By combining the three autonomous festivals, modul-dance, Ukrep and Pleskavica, Kino Šiška joined its artistic and production forces. It will take place from 17th to 21th June and from 21th to 27th September.

This year, the motto of the festival is The Art of Co-Living, and Šiška continue with the ideas of finding the connection points, establishing of the common space, mutual support and the rise of new questions: autonomy and recognisability of contemporary dance. What it wants to address is the multitude and diversity of artistic formats and approaches, and the related importance of the transfer of knowledge, trust, duration putting the processuality, which excludes mere representation, at the same level as the finished productions.

CoFestival is also addressing the need of establishing a difference between arts and cultural industries, and forewarning of possible negative consequences of the equation between the two. Because arts, and especially live arts are not and cannot be made into sellable products that would circulate in the market, in the same way that material objects do.

In which way and why does contemporary dance move between democracy and the market, and what will remain of it in the end?

Lili M, We all have more or less the same parts. 24/09/2013-27/09/2013. MSUM/U3

How do we understand the stage? What kind of a relation do we build towards the stage? What is the difference between the performer’s relation with the stage and the experience of the spectator? This project is about research of the stage experience, the multiplicity of its perception and understanding. Lili Mihajlović invites all interested to join her in her 4-day intensive process, which will consist of two layers: the improvisational aspect, which is based on a fast reaction of the participant, and the group aspect, where the perception and understanding of the experiences will be fed-back to the creation.
