Engaging Audiences. Conference. Dansens Hus Stockholm

MD Conference Stockholm

Dansens Hus hosted a two-day conference, Contemporary Dance and Audiences, in connection with the first edition of the international contemporary dance festival DANS<3Stockholm. The conference discussed the historical, social and political framework of audience work, and its implications for dance houses presenting contemporary dance and performance. Dance institutions are in great need of developing new organizational structures, relationships and strategies for audience work. In Stockholm, we discussed good practices to improve access; to identify those new services needed to reach-out and include new audience groups, and to address barriers of social inclusion.

The program consisted of keynote lectures, panel discussions, presentations of good practices and case studies concerning audience development and participation, and workshops.
