Think Tank. Feedback Excursus. Tanzquartier Wien
The think tank entitled Feedback Excursus took place in the framework of the second editions of Feedback, an excerpt from the current dance and performance scene in Austria in the view of Tanzquartier Wien.
Artists, programme directors and dramaturges discussed aesthetic and socio-critical positions of contemporary dance and performance. They addressed the interferences of singularity and community, art and democracy, invisibility and presence, theatrical illusion and sexual fantasies, authorship and ready made symptomatics, simultaneity and timing, mimesis and empathy, body landscapes as scene and screen, scenic and political rethoric and gesture.
Friday 26th April
13:30 – 14:30 h. Round 1. Luke Baio, Dominik Grünbühel, Stefanie Wilhelm in discussion with Kerstin Evert.
Choreography as Space Formation
When and how does space start to move, do the eyes no longer trust their sensory impressions and is physical experience thrown back on itself? On the basis of the intermedia works of Stefanie Wilhelm and Luke Baio & Dominik Grünbühel, which oscillate between choreography as spatial formation, the play with presence and absence, digital and analogue performance and the deception of perception patterns, a discussion develops on theatrical illusion and spectator fantasies.
14:30 – 16:00 h. Round 2. Milli Bitterli, Philipp Gehmacher, Anne Juren, Bruno Pocheron, Roland Rauschmeier, Paul Wenninger in discussion with Silvia Fanti and Florian Malzacher.
Proof of concept
The talk will focus on two common perspectives on an artwork: The creator and the perceiver. A discussion about the decisions, expectations and experiences of the participants before, during and the day after the show. A discussion about production conditions and »multiple authorship«, about the integrity of individual artistic works, about the aesthetic and political integrity of art.
Saturday 27th April
13:30 – 14:30 h. Round 1. Alexander Deutinger, Christine Gaigg, Marta Navaridas in discussion with Bush Hartshorn and Arne Forke.
Close-Reading of Gesture
The discussion will concentrate on the question of how on can gain knowledge through artistic processes of physical rhetoric and gesture – whether in the political and / or cultural context. An examination of the fact that and how the classical media and social media influence the creation and memory of gestures.
14:30 – 16:00 h. Round 2. Claudia Bosse in discussion with Marietta Piekenbrock
“so, what is to be done?” Theatre as a sculptural area for action
Based on the work of Claudia Bosse, new zones of the performative will be negotiated that produce connections between bodies, language, object and action, which again orient themselves on the circumstances of the architectural surroundings. It will be asked how the spectators, without the usual respectful distance, actively and exploratively deal with an amalgam of performance, choreography, discourse, body art, sound and assemblage. And how the theatre of the 21st century is becoming not only a question of content and form but also a question of responsibility.
